ANIMALS

We have seen many different kinds of animals around us since our childhood. Some of them can fly, some kinds live in sea, or some animals lay eggs, while others give birth etc. Animals are classified in many ways according to their common characteristic. There are three basic types animal in nature. These are Mammals, Birds, Reptiles.
The first type of animals is mammals. Mammals are the most intelligent creatures on earth. They learn to adapt to many different climates and living conditions. Some mammals are tame, some are wild, some are very large and some are small. They have fur or hair, so they are warm-blooded. They have a backbone. They breathe air through lungs. Most baby mammals grow inside their mother and are born alive. A few mammals grow inside an egg in their mother's body. The babies drink milk from their mother's bodies. This feature distinguishes mammals from the other animal species.
The other type is birds. Birds are animals that have feathers and that are born out of hard-shelled eggs. Some people think that what makes an animal a bird is its wings. Bats and flies have wings, but bats and flies are not birds. All birds have feathers and birds are the only animals that do. The feathers on a bird's wings and tail overlap. Because they overlap, the feathers catch and hold the air. This helps the bird to fly, steer itself and land. Duck, Owl , Pigeon , Flamingo , Ostrich are examples for birds class.
Finally, Reptiles are type of animals. They are known as their dry and scaly skin. They have short legs or no legs at all such as sneaks. They breathe with lungs. Reptiles are vertebrates. They have backbones. Most young reptiles hatch from eggs. Reptiles that live in cold climates hibernate in winter. Most reptiles shed their skin as they grow. Reptiles are all cold-blooded. When it is cold their bodies and blood become cold. When they lie in the warm sun their bodies and blood become warm. Snakes, lizards, crocodiles, alligators and turtles belong to the reptile class.
There are a few similarities among these animal’s type, in fact mammals, bird and reptiles are different from each other in view of their anatomy. Each type has distinctive features that make their life easier or make them different from other types.
